Tangential Guest: Eric Herman, producer of Vieux Farka Touré's debut album and co-founder of Modiba Productions.
2007 is the year Vieux Farka Touré emerged as the musical heir to the late, legendary Malian "Desert Blues" guitarist Ali Farka Touré. That is thanks to the exceptional debut album by the Malian’s heir apparent. This 90+ minute Tangents show provides a rare insider's view into this historic passing of a musical torch from father to son. The story has surprising twists and turns explained by the album's young producer Eric Herman. The programme includes extracts from Vieux's debut CD including a father and son track which was one of Ali's final recorded songs.
