Don Lipari:

The trip was better than I had hoped. It included a number of regions of Turkey, some urban, some remote, but all exquisite in beauty. The people we met were warm and happy to share their customs and culture with us. This was a time for connecting with people, face to face,
instead of through the windows of some big tour bus.

I was one of the fortunate few who were part of the first Tangents trip to Turkey. I had never been to Turkey before, and I would never had gone, had it not been for Dore. However, the
opportunity to travel through an exotic country with a diverse group of people from the Bay Area, brought together by their love of world music, was something I could not pass up.

The trip was better than I had hoped. It included a number of regions of Turkey, some urban, some remote, but all exquisite in beauty. The people we met were warm and happy to share their customs and culture with us. This was a time for connecting with people, face to face, instead of through the windows of some big tour bus.

And Dore helped explain the music and brought us to the center of the Turkish music scene. We also enjoyed memorable live music performances.

Even the bus ride was first class. On some of the longer stretches, Dore hosted music trivia contests at the back of the bus, thinking up the questions on the fly. It was really fun. I got to know the people in our group a little better as well as how much I don't know about the last 50 years of recorded music.

I
f you've always wondered what it would be like to travel the crossroads of ancient and modern civilization, I would heartily recommend traveling through Turkey on the next Tangents trip Dore puts together.
